Used in the synthesis of the antimicrobial cyclic peptide Desotamide B, a novel antibiotic effective against drug-resistant bacteria. Also serves as a precursor for the synthesis of demethylcantharidin derivatives used in anticancer therapy. Additionally, it is utilized in the synthesis of leuprorelin.
